VRT-Ketnet buys trio of kids’ shows
Belgian children’s channel VRT-Ketnet has acquired three series from Canadian content distributor DHX Media.
The deal comprises new 52x11mins series SheZow, seasons one and two of CBC’s Monster Math Show and the 40x15mins season one of Martha Speaks.
SheZow (left), which follows the life of a superhero boy, recently sold to Lagardere-owned Canal J in France and Frisbee in Italy on a five-year licence. It comes from Moody Street Kids and Kickstart Productions, along with Film Victoria and Vision Animation, and was created by showrunner Obie Scott Wade.
DHX has worldwide TV and licensing and merchandising rights (except Australia).
VRT-Ketnet programme acquisitions executive Telidja Klaï said: “VRT-Ketnet has acquired all three DHX Media shows as they are all a perfect fit for our audience. Martha Speaks will steal children’s hearts, Monster Math Squad is totally ‘Ketnet’ and is ideal for our preschool block, [and] SheZow offers adventure and comedy which our viewers love.”
