Ruling opens Canal+ channels to web rivals
Canal+ has published reference offers for its seven Ciné+ movie channels, allowing ISPs to make the services available to their users for the first time.
Previously the seven channels – Ciné+ Premier, Frisson, Emotion, Famiz, Classic, Club and Star were only available to cable operator Numericable as a third party provider.
Now ISPs including Orange, SFR, Free and Bouygues Telecom will be able to incorporate the channels in their offerings, either as a package or bundled with other services.
Canal+ made the move following the intervention by the French competition authority to set new conditions ahead of reauthorizing the merger between CanalSatellite and TPS.
The reference offers have been validated by the competition authority and published with transparent tariffs.
