NBC pins hopes on Wall of Fame
US broadcast network NBC has ordered an eight-episode series of Endemol USA’s new gameshow series Wall of Fame.
The programme, which launched at MIPTV in April, is an hour-long comedy show in which families answer trivia questions to win cash prizes. The twist is they can win more by guessing which celebrities on the titular ‘wall of fame’ also answered correctly.
“This series offers something for everyone in a unique game show format that rewards families who know their pop culture trivia,” said NBC’s president, alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy. “Our celebrities will add an extra element of surprise as they too will have their knowledge tested — providing a high potential for many unpredictable and raucous answers.”
Endemol USA previously produced four seasons of Deal or No Deal for NBC. It is also behind CBS’s Big Brother, ABC’s Wipeout, syndicated talk show Steve Harvey and AMC’s Freakshow, and includes scripted division Endemol Studios, which produces Hell on Wheels and Low Winter Sun.
However, the commission comes as NBC’s version of Benidorm Bastards, titled Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, is canned. The hidden camera show has run for two seasons but will not return for another, it has been confirmed.
