BBC Worldwide scores Lake, Paradise drama deals
BBC Worldwide has sold its dramas Top of the Lake, The Paradise and Father Brown to a batch of broadcasters around the world.
This comes after BBCWW yesterday revealed its programme sales revenues had topped £300 million (US$454 million) for the financial year for the first time.
These latest deals see 6x60mins See-Saw Films-produced BBC Two drama Top of the Lake, which stars Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, The West Wing) heading to Space in Canada, M-Net in South Africa, Arte in France, SVT in Sweden, TV2 in Norway, Mystery Channel in Japan, RTP in Portugal and DR in Denmark.
Lake comes from See-Saw in association with Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Fulcrum Media Finance for BBC, UKTV, The Sundance Channel, ARTE and BBC Worldwide
BBC One’s 8x50mins series The Paradise has shopped to the likes of ABC in Australia, PRIME in New Zealand, D8 in France, Servus TV in Austria, MediaCorp in Singapore and Passion in Germany.
The show comes from BBC and Masterpiece and a production on a second season is underway, with Spain’s Mediaset already attached as a pre-buyer.
Father Brown, which is 10x45mins and comes from BBCWW and BBC Drama, has sold to ABC, TV8 in Sweden, DR and Iceland’s RUV, along with 30% of public television stations in the US.
