Kevin Costner signs first-look deal with Lionsgate venture
Hatfields & McCoys star Kevin Costner has signed a first-look deal with Lionsgate and Thunderbird Films joint venture Sea To Sky Entertainment.
Costner’s Treehouse Films will work to develop and produce new scripted television series.
The Hollywood star will work in conjunction with Treehouse creative executive Jasa McCall and may direct and/or act in the projects.
Costner produced and starred in the Emmy-winning Hatfields (pictured), the History cable series that smashed ratings records last year.
“Hatfields & McCoys was an extraordinary achievement, and when we learned that Kevin wanted to expand his activities in television, we were immediately interested in meeting with him,” said Kevin Beggs, president of Lionsgate Television Group. “We’re excited about the ideas he wants to pursue.”
Costner is repped by WME and managed by J.J. Harris at One Management.
Sea To Sky is mini-major Lionsgate’s joint venture with Frank Giustra’s Vancouver-based coproduction and financing specialist Thunderbird. It launched last year and now has bases in LA and Toronto.
