All3Media cuts first format deal for MTV’s Money From Strangers
Turkish broadcaster Star is taking All3Media-distributed Money From Strangers.
It will transmit a local primetime version of the hidden-camera format, which was originally made for MTV in the US.
The US version was made by Lion Television and the distribution arm of its parent group, All3Media, closed the format deal. The Turkish adaptation will be made by local producer Yirmibeşfilm and the local title is Yap Bakalim.
Nick Smith, vice president, formats, at All3Media International said: “We’re delighted to see Money From Strangers follow up its second series commission in the US with this first foray into international adaptation for Star TV. We’re confident Money From Strangers can successfully travel all around the world in the same way as Lion Television’s mega hit Cash Cab has.”
The first season of the show performed well for MTV in a Monday night primetime slot and All3Media International said that it has sealed new deals for the US version. MTV has taken pay TV rights across Latin America and New Zealand. TVNZ has acquired free-to-air rights in New Zealand and Globosat has picked it up in Brazil.
In Europe, Norway’s TV Norge has acquired the US show.
