NBC preps miniseries slate including Clinton bio, Rosemary’s Baby

NBC is working on a slate of miniseries that includes a biopic of Hilary Clinton and TV reworkings of Rosemary’s Baby and Stephen King’s novel Tommyknockers.

The miniseries form is enjoying a global resurgence and US broadcast network NBC recently ordered A.D.: After the Bible, the follow-up to cable net History’s smash hit miniseries The Bible.

Both are from Mark Burnett Productions and the reality guru has another scripted series away with NBC as he pushes into drama. Plymouth will follow a group of pilgrims as they travel across the Atlantic and establish a new country.

However, NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt (pictured) admitted at the TCA Summer Press Tour that AD would not be ready until the 2014-15 broadcast season.

NBC is also developing several other new miniseries.

Hilary will be a four-hour drama about the eminent US politician Hilary Clinton, starring Diane Lane (Man of Steel) in the lead role. It will follow Clinton’s life from 1998, when she was First Lady, to her own political career and, ultimately, appointment as secretary of state. It will be produced by Endgame Entertainment.

Rosemary’s Baby will also run to four one-hour installments. The horror novel and movie reboot will be produced by Lionsgate.

Stephen King novel Tommyknockers will also get the NBC miniseries treatment with details scant thus far.

Elsewhere, NBC has binned Fashion Star after two seasons, while Celebrity Apprentice is not guaranteed a new season despite its star, Donald Trump, previously claiming it had been renewed.
