Syfy’s Fandemonium becomes Fangasm
Syfy has greenlit Fangasm, a reworked version of pop culture show Fandemonium.
The NBCUniversal-owned US cable net has ordered the six-part series from 495 Productions, the US indie that makes Jersey Shore.
It will follow a tight-knit group of pop culture-obsessed fans living in an LA apartment as they try to “find their place in the world and flourish”.
The show will be part of Syfy’s autum line-up, launching in a 10pm slot on September 24.
Separately, Syfy said it will capitalise upon the success of Sharknado with a merchandising programme based on the TV movie. Retail and branding agency Earthbound will launch Sharknado t-shirts, bags, posters, accessories and costumes in the US.
