Dish Network reaches retrans agreement
US cable platform Dish Network has restored channels from American satellite broadcaster Raycom Media after the two companies agreed a new deal.
This comes after Dish cut Raycom’s affiliate channels in 36 markets in yet another stateside disagreement over carriage fees.
The news comes in the middle of the much-publicised carriage row between Time Warner Cable and CBS, which has seen the latter off air on the former for the past ten days.
No agreement in that case appears on the horizon yet and media regulator the FCC over the weekend threatened to step in if no ground is made soon.
Last week, Dish founder Charlie Ergen said he would be prepared to drop Disney-owned broadcast net ABC and sportscaster ESPN when the current deal comes to an end on September 30 if terms could not be agreed.
