News brief: Argentine education net asks What’s Your News?
A public TV channel in Argentina has acquired UK children’s format What’s Your News? from Canada’s Picture Box Distribution.
Pakapaka, which is operated by the Ministry of Education of Argentina, has bought the format, in which animated characters host their own news programme for 4-6 year-olds.
The format was originally created by TT Animation in the UK for Nick Jr., before being reworked for Canadian audiences by Lenz Entertainment and Original Pictures for CBC.
“This truly is a global series, as children from Argentina will be able to see their own local stories embedded in the series. It’s a series that lends itself extraordinarily well to formatting, which can be difficult in preschool programming,” said Kate Sanagan, co-owner, Picture Box.
