Globo boss restructures Brazilian media giant
Globo chief executive Carlos Henrique Schroder has met with the company’s senior executives to outline a new structure for the broadcasting and media business.
The changes will allow Globo to plough more money into entertainment content for its domestic terrestrial services and, increasingly, for its pay TV operation Globosat and other digital and on-demand platforms and services.
The new structure means the company will be organised around three core activities: content, business and management.
“We are living during a time in which everything changes at an increasing rate,” Schroder said. “Every organisation that intends to survive and excel in such an environment needs to make a thorough assessment of the way it is operating and have the courage and boldness to renew itself.”
Globo’s director of business and second in command Willy Haas will oversee the international Globo business under the new structure and manage Globo’s regional broadcasting activities.
The content division includes entertainment, journalism and sports, programming and quality control, and communications.
Manoel Martins will head up the entertainment division with a remit to leverage internal and external relationships to produce more content for Globosat and Globo.com as well as to work more closely with movie division Globo Filmes.
Ali Kamel will run the journalism and sports unit.
Other changes include the integration of the broadcaster’s programming and analysis and quality control departments under the leadership of Amauri Soares.
