9 Story snaps up rights to Brazilian toon Haunted Tales
Canada-based producer and distributor 9 Story Entertainment has picked up international rights to animated comedy series Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids.
9 Story Enterprises has taken global TV and licensing rights, ex-Brazil where the show is on Cartoon Network and it has established itself as the most-watched show for 4-to-11s.
Cartoon Network Latin America will launch the series region-wide from Halloween.
It is produced by Brazil’s Glaz Entertainment and follows Pepe, a 12-year old boy who helps out at his grandmother’s magic potion emporium.
“Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids embraces an offbeat and edgy style of humour that has found a real following with today’s kids,” said Natalie Osborne, managing director, 9 Story Entertainment.
“Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids has been a huge success in Brazil, and we are thrilled that 9 Story will be expanding its distribution,” said Paulo Boccato, owner of Glaz Entertainment.
9 Story Enterprises has been beefing up the number of hours in its catalogue. In July it closed a deal for the rights to CCI’s children’s TV catalogue giving it distribution rights to shows including Artzooka and Harry and His Bucketful of Dinosaurs.
