Studio Lambert UK format Gogglebox gets US remake
US network Bravo has commissioned a local version of the Studio Lambert’s British unscripted format Gogglebox (pictured).
The show, known locally as The People’s Couch, will launch as a half-hour thre-episode series on the NBCUniversal-owned cable channel at 11.30pm ET/PT on Sunday, October 6.
Each episode will follow real people as they watch the week’s top fall season TV in their own homes.
“The People’s Couch is a funny, unfiltered comment on America’s current TV viewing habits,” said Lara Spotts, VP of development, Bravo. “Continuing Bravo’s tradition of serving up pop culture in fresh, new ways, this series taps into everyone’s desire to know what others think about the shows they are watching.”
Studio Lambert will produce along with All3Media stablemate All3Media America, with Stephen Lambert, Eli Holzman, Tania Alexander and Aliyah Silverstein executive producing.
In the UK, the show has been commissioned for a second run on terrestrial Channel 4. The format was born out of a previous Channel4/Studio Lambert series, Seven Days.
