New US cable net Pivot buys French comedy Bref
Lagardère Entertainment Rights has sold its French comedy series Bref to Pivot, the recently-launched US cable network.
The series, which was produced by French indie My Box Productions, follows a 30 year old man, played by Kyan Khojandi, as he faces the ordinary grind of life.
The US channel will put the show out in its original French language with English subtitles.
In France Bref has proved popular Canal+ and went out on the premium pay service between 2011 and 2012 winning audiences of over 2.5 million on Canal+ and millions of online views.
Bref is perfect for our network at so many levels,” said Jennie Morris, senior VP of acquisitions at Pivot. “It is a series our audience will truly relate to and lends itself to binge and repeat viewing. Airing it in French with English subtitles preserves its authenticity and we’re excited to share it with American audiences.”
