All3Media makes major Aussie investment ahead of Cannes
All3Media International has picked up raft of new Australian-produced content that it will launch in Cannes next week.
The distributor has an Australia-focussed investment programme and is picking up rights to Australian-originated drama as its appeal grows among international buyers.
It already distributes Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries from indie prodco Every Cloud. It has now picked up Love Child (pictured) from Playmaker Media. The series airs on Network Nine in Australia and follows a grouop of women in the late 1960s.
It will also launch Screentime-produced WWI drama Anzac Girls at the market, about the volunteer nurses that tended to wounded servicemen during the conflict.
All3 will also bring some new Australian factual shows to market. It will have Life on the Edge, a seven part series for Nat Geo and Network Seven from Prospero Productions. It tells the story of the Australian coast line, covering the major landmarks and the animals that inhabit the coast.
From Essential Media, All3Media International will have The Real Mary Poppins, about the writer of the famous kids stories, Pamela Travers. The one-off doc was a copro between Essential, ABC Australia and PBS in the US.
Maartje Horchner, All3Media International’s head of acquisitions said: “We have invested nearly A$3 million into the region in the last three years –as Australian indie producers prove time and again that that create original stand out content. There is a distinct shift that differentiates it from other English language productions – a different sensitivity, partly built on the fact they produce in a highly competitive, commercial marketplace locally.”
