Comedy Central creates Almost Impossible Gameshow
Endemol-owned Initial is creating a pilot for a wacky gameshow for Viacom’s UK pay TV channel Comedy Central.
The Almost Impossible Gameshow is a non-scripted entertainment format in which contestants undertake a series of simple but “fiendishly difficult” games to win a cash prize.
Executive producers are Viacom International Media Networks UK’s senior VP Steve Regan, Comedy Central’s VP, development and production Lourdes Diaz and Endemol UK’s head of entertainment Shaun Parry and produced by Chris Lore.
The pilot is Comedy Central’s latest home-grown commission, coming after others such as sitcom Threesome and Seann Walsh World.
Jill Offman, managing director of Comedy Central UK and senior VP, international content, Comedy Central, who is overseeing original content offerings for the VIMN-owned global, said: “I am excited to see The Almost Impossible Gameshow move through our international pipeline at Comedy Central. This ludicrous yet genius format is our stab at the absurd world of Japanese gameshows, with a Comedy Central twist.”
