Stan Lee makes Indian superhero for Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network has picked up Chakra: The Invincible, a superhero TV movie from Stan Lee. The show will debut on Cartoon Network in India to 34 million homes at the end of November.

Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, has made the show under his Pow! Entertainment banner alongside Indian prodco and studio Graphic India, which is backed by the Asian division of Peter Chernin’s investment fund.

Internationally the show will launch on Toons TV, the online platform created by Angry Birds creator Rovio. Chakra: The Invincible will be one of a handful of third party shows on the platform, which also shows Rovio’s Angry Birds animated series.

The TV movie follows a young Indian boy, Raju Rai, who with his mentor develops a suit that activates a range of mystical chakras. With his newfound superpowers Rai must save his hometown of Mumbai from various super villains.

Lee said: “The incredible story of Chakra, one of my latest and most exciting superhero creations, promises to captivate audiences in India and around the world with his adventures.”
