News brief: Harry Sloan’s Global Eagle makes $36m in-flight deal
Global Eagle Entertainment has acquired another in-flight entertainment business, buying IFE Services for US$36 million.
Global Eagle is run by former MGM and SBS boss Harry Sloan (pictured) and has already bought in-flight content businesses Row 44 and Frankfurt-listed Advanced Inflight Alliance (AIA) for US$400 million.
The business it has just bought, IFE, provides content and solutions to the airline and cruise ship industries with a notable presence in Africa, Asia and South America.
For the full year 2013 the company is expected to generate approximately $37 million to $40 million of revenue.
