ITV shows set for Wuaki’s UK service
UK VOD website Wuaki.tv has closed a deal for hundreds of hours of programming from broadcaster ITV.
The catalogue TV and movie deal hands the Rakuten-owned site shows such as The Royle Family, Cold Feet, Lewis, Law and Order (pictured), Prime Suspect, Endeavour, Lemon La Vida Loca and Titanic, which ITV’s sales arm ITV Studios Global Entertainment sells on the international market.
Wuaki, which has a market leading streaming service in Spain where it first launched, went live in the UK in July and has built an offer of UK and Hollywood programming.
The ITV shows will be part of the Wuaki.tv Selection £4.99 (US$8) per month subscription streaming service and on an individual transactional basis.
“As well as demand for the latest blockbuster movie titles, we do see a real hunger from our users for TV series that they can watch back-to-back on-demand”, said Jacinto Roca, Founder and CEO of Wuaki.tv. “ITV is a huge player in the UK and well known for quality drama and comedy programming. Having their catalogue is a great boost for our service.”
Neale Dennett, controller of pay and distribution at ITV, added: “We are committed to producing and distributing high quality content across commercially viable platforms and are delighted to announce this deal with Wuaki.tv, which gives viewers further opportunities to access ITV content.”
