A+E makes History in Russia
A+E-owned channel History is launching in Russia today.
History and its HD sister channel have gone live on the NTV+ platform and will roll out on Rostelecom before the end of the year.
The channel’s line-up includes the Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars, American Pickers and American Restoration franchises and in the US has moved into original scripted programming with shows such as The Bible.
“The rollout of History in Russia marks an important milestone for A+E Networks,” said Dean Possenniskie, managing director, Europe. “Russia is an important territory for us and we’re looking forward to bringing the highest quality factual entertainment to the market.”
Overall, History is in around 330 million homes in 160 territories globally.
The launch is the latest from the A+E stable, coming soon after flagship channel A&E launched in Europe for the first time on France’s Canal+ pay TV platform.
