Endemol’s Blinders in Chinese VOD drama deal
China’s dominant VOD platform Youku Tudou has acquired rights to Endemol-sold dramas including BBC Two drama Peaky Blinders.
Endemol sales house Endemol Worldwide Distribution has secured agreement with Trade Lead Investments to send Peaky Blinders, Continuum seasons one and two and Black Mirror seasons one and two to the youku.com, youku.net and tudou.com platforms.
Period crime drama Peaky Blinders comes from Caryn Mandabach Production and Tiger Aspect Production and ran on BBC Two earlier this year, and a second season has been commissioned.
Sci-fi series Continuum comes from Reunion Pictures in association with Shaw Media, while dystopian drama Black Mirror is from Endemol-owned Zeppotron and broadcaster Charlie Brooker.
EWD’s sales director, Asia, Rashmi Bajpai secured the deal for the super indie.
