Hungary’s TV2 shoots for Keshet’s Rising Star
The number of channels picking up Keshet International’s new talent format Rising Star has grown again, with Hungary’s TV2 becoming the latest to take it on.
The commercial channel has ordered a 14 episode local version, which will broadcast in fall 2014.
Rising Star is already officially headed for ABC in the US, M6 in France, Rossiya 1 in Russia and RTL in Germany.
It is understood to be heading for ITV in the UK.
There are also deals in Italy and Scandinavia, where production companies Toro and Nordisk, respectively, have acquired rights.
The talent format sees viewers and judges vote on singers’ live performances. If the contestant scores more than 70% of votes, a screen obscuring them rises, revealing them to the audience.
Rising Star emerged from MIPCOM, where it launched, as the most-talked about new formats among buyers.
