Cineflix’s Levenson joins Andreae’s Fox team

Cineflix Productions’ executive VP for development Lisa Levenson is one of two hires for Simon Andreae’s alternative programming team at Fox in the US.

Levenson comes the latest executive to exit Cineflix in the past year and will be joined by Asylum Entertainment executive Alex Piper and Amy Cohen, who has been promoted, in a new look alternative team.

Former Discovery exec Andreae has been building his team since landing the role of president, alternative entertainment last autumn. He replaced the long serving incumbent Mike Darnell in a controversial appointment that saw him turn his back on a new production venture with Sony. Darnell later joined Warner Bros. Television as its alternative programming chief.

The new alternative division appointments see Levenson become senior VP; Piper named VP; and Cohen upped to executive director. Levenson and Piper will report to Andreae and oversee the day-today management of the network’s returning unscripted series and specials. They will also play key roles in new programming development.

Levenson launched Cineflix Media’s LA office and oversaw development and production, and also has an executive producer credit on 14 seasons of The Bachelor on her CV.

Her departure comes a day after ex-Cineflix Studios boss Pete Smith was unveiled as the managing director of Greek broadcasting group Antenna.

Smith, Cineflix Studios co-chief Christina Wayne, reality exec Jodi Flynn, Cineflix Productions duo Simon Lloyd and Joe Houlihan have all exited the UK-North American producer in the past seven months following a company-wide restructuring.

Piper, meanwhile, joins Fox from US indie Asylum, where he was senior VP, alternative television. In that role, he executive produced shows such as Being Mike Tyson for Fox Sports 1, The Locator for WE tv and Addicted for TLC.

Cohen, meanwhile, has worked in Fox’s unscripted team since 2005 and worked on shows such as The X Factor, American Idol and Hell’s Kitchen.
