TCB Rights hires Connell from Beyond

Paul Heaney’s UK-based distribution business TCB Rights has recruited Karen Connell.

She joins from Australia-listed sales firm Beyond Distribution and will be TCB’s head of sales for the Nordic, Benelux and CEE regions.

Prior to Beyond, Connell was in business affairs at Canadian broadcast companies Corus Entertainment and Astral Media, as well as in-house production company for Discovery Canada. After relocating to London she worked for Net Geo and Viasat.

Speaking about her new role she said: “This is a career opportunity that comes along rarely, to join a growing team of an independent company at a critical and exciting point in its lifecycle.”

Heaney added: “As TCB Media enters its second year of trading, we need to invest in a professional who is fully focussed on converting our slate of content into sales and delivering on the promises we have made to producers.”

The TCB sales team comprises Heaney, Connell and Pamela Martinez and Claire Lowe who joined from Cineflix last year.

Heaney set up TCB after leaving his position as head of sales at Cineflix. His distribution firm now has a catalogue of about 200 hours from 40 indie producers.
