FX orders Galifianakis pilot, launches FXNOW app

FX has ordered a new comedy series pilot from Zach Galifianakis.

The Hangover star will star and co-write the pilot with writer-producer Louis C.K. Both will exec produce along with Blair Breard, Dave Becky, Andrea Pett-Joseph and Marc Gurvitz.

This will be the first production under the recently-announced deal between FX Productions and C.K.’s production company, Pig Newton.

The news comes as FX begins the roll-out of FXNOW, its new TV Everywhere app, which is available to FX subscribers with different levels of access depending on their cable package.

Original series available on the app will include Sons of Anarchy, Justified, The Americans, Archer and Louie. FXNOW users will also have access to a number of contemporary feature films and episodes of The Simpsons (excluding the season currently on Fox).

Currently FXNOW is available to 50% of subscribers in the US, and is available for download through iOS, Windows 8 and Xbox One devices. Android, Xbox 360, Roku and Samsung versions will be available in the second quarter of 2014.
