Swedish cable launch for Netflix
Subscription video-on-demand service Netflix is available on Swedish cable operator Com Hem’s TiVo platform as of today.
Netflix will be included in TiVo as an app, givingSwedish viewers to chance to view series including Hemlock Grove, Arrested Development, Orange is the New Black and Breaking Bad.
The second season on Netflix original House of Cards will be available to Com Hem Netflix subscribers from February 14.
Customers can log in with a current Netflix account for subscribe direct through their TiVo box for SEK79 a month.
Netflix will be integrated with Com Hem’s TiVo search function, so that any search instigated by TiVo users will include content from Netflix.
“The new Netflix app complements and further strengthens our current content offering. We want the customer to be able to access any content they want to watch in one single place, regardless of source. As a TiVo user you now easily can search and browse across all of Netflix’s acclaimed line up, together with all the other great content available through Com Hem. This adds up to thousands and thousands of titles, meaning you can find practically anything you would like to watch through your TiVo,” said Asanga Gunatillaka, chief product officer at Com Hem.
Netflix has now selectively launched on several pay TV systems including Waoo! In Denmark and Virgin Media in the UK. It is reportedly talking to US pay TV platforms about similar agreements.
