Ex-Zodiak USA execs open up new indie
Geno McDermott and Joanne Inglott (pictured above right) have launched a new US-based indie producer, Blackfin.
The pair’s new prodco will work up character-based factual series and sports-themed content for US cable and digital networks.
McDermott will be company CEO and Inglott partner and executive producer, current programming.
McDermott is coming off Left/Right-produced Animal Planet series Cold River Cash, which he exec produced. He previously has an overall deal with the New York division of Zodiak Media.
British-born Inglott also has strong Zodiak connections, and was formerly an in-house exec producer at Zodiak New York where she worked on Wife Swap, All Worked Up and Lizard Lick Towing among other shows.
Alexa Conway has also been brought on as partner and executive in charge of production. She joins from Red Line Films.
“Blackfin is a forum for ideas of all shapes and sizes generated by folks from all walks of life – we want independent creators to make Blackfin their home,“ said McDermott. “Our approach is boots on the ground. We are finding talent you can’t find from a cubicle and taking risks in our execution to keep the Blackfin brand fresh for our clients.”
Blackfin will be repped by the WME agency.
