MTG on-demand services bag Viacom shows
Viacom International Media Networks will supply Modern Times Group with programming for the latter’s numerous on-demand services across Scandinavia.
Under terms of a new partnership, VIMN will supply MTV and Comedy Central programmes such as Geordie Shore and The Daily Show; library series including The Hills, Punked and Cribs; and kids TV shows such as SpongeBob SquarePants to MTG’s free TV catch up platforms.
TV3Play.se, TV6Play.se, TV8Play.se, and TV10Play.se in Sweden will get both Comedy Central and MTV programming; and TV3Play.no, Viasat4play.no and TV6Play.no in Norway and on TV3Play.dk in Denmark will get MTV series.
MTG will also handle advertising sales for Viacom’s on-demand services and plans to bundle with MTG platforms to target sales. MTG already sells airtime on Viacom’s linear channels MTV, Comedy Central and VH-1 in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, president and CEO of MTG, said of the deal: “This is a key new step in the development of our strong partnership with Viacom, and reflects our determination to be the leading online and offline provider of high quality and relevant entertainment products in all of our markets.
“This exciting content and sales agreement will provide our online viewers with even richer and more varied content experiences through multiple screens and devices, and provide our advertising customers with increased reach and impact.”
