Ex-ABC Kids boss lands at Studio 100

Former ABC Kids boss Tim Brooke-Hunt has joined Europe’s Studio 100 as a board advisor and board president of affiliated Australian prodco Flying Bark Productions.

The appointments, effective immediately, will see Brooke-Hunt advising Belgium-based Studio 100 on its animation activities going forward and working closely with Flying Bark’s general manager and executive producer Jim Ballantine on development.

Brooke-Hunt exited ABC Kids in 2013 after six year at the pubcaster, with former BBC Worldwide exec Deidre Brennan taking over as ABC children’s controller.

Before his time at ABC, Brooke-Hunt worked in animation development, financing and production for his own venture Pacific Vision and another Aussie producer, Sticky Pictures. He also had a previous nine year stint as executive producer at Flying Bark when it was known as Yoram Gross Studios.

Flying Bark is behind toon series Heidi, Tashi and Vik the Viking and has a further Skippy and Lulu.

“After our phenomenal growth over the past four years, we are excited to welcome Tim to the Studio 100 group. His wealth of experience will help take Studio 100 to new international markets and help us to continue to build a sustainable business,” said Studio 100 Group CEO Hans Bourlon.

Brooke Hunt said Studio 100 had “ambitious plans” for animation and that he was looking forward to returning to Flying Bark.

“Under the leadership of Jim Ballantine, Flying Bark has become recognised internationally as a producer of quality animation, and I look forward to helping consolidate and extend the company’s position,” he added.
