RTL checks into Banijay’s Sex Academy
RTL5 in the Netherlands has ordered a local version of the Sex Academy format.
The show was created by TV2 in Denmark and is distributed internationally by Banijay International.
In the series ordinary couples check into the titular Academy and are schooled on topics including the importance of foreplay, different sexual positions and role-playing. They then take a video camera home where they put the what they have learned into effect and discuss the experience.
Banijay has already shopped the format to Spanish free-to-air broadcaster Cuatro. Banijay’s Cuarzo Producciones made that version of the show.
The Dutch version will run to 7x60mins and go out on RTL5 later this year. Eyeworks, now owned by Warner Bros., will make the local version.
Sebastian Burkhardt, head of sales at Banijay International said: “Sex Academy tackles an often off-limits subject in an honest and engaging way. The Netherlands is at the forefront of envelope-pushing programming trends and we think the local audience will respond well to this format.”
