Turner poaches distribution director from Disney
Turner Broadcasting has named Humphrey Black as its new vice-president, media distribution, EMEA.
Black was previously director of channel distribution, EMEA at The Walt Disney Company where he was responsible for the licensing of Disney’s channels and branded video-on-demand services as well as providing strategy and developing best practice for local and regional sales teams and delivering key distribution deals.
At Turner he will be responsible for developing content distribution strategy to maximise the revenue and operating income across all lines of business.
He will lead distribution relationships and negotiations with broadcasters, cable operators and wireless and interactive services providers and evaluate the impact of new technologies and distribution partners on the business across the EMEA region.
Black will report to Turner Broadcasting EMEA president Giorgio Stock.
Stock said: “This [appointment] reflects a further step in our commitment to developing customised and lasting relationships with our distribution partners in an increasingly dynamic and complex marketplace, and is critical for the growth and development of our business across the region.”
