Leftfield follows George promotion with development hire
US producer Leftfield Pictures has hired Jason Burinescu from Naked & Afraid producer Renegade 83.
This comes just a day after the producer promoted head of programming David George (left) to president, and in the new role Burinescu will report into the new boss, working out of LA.
Burinescu was previously Renegade 83’s development chief, where he was responsible for developing and/or selling 24 shows to 15 broadcasters. This included Naked & Afraid, which has been a key performing title for the Discovery Channel since launch last year.
He also co-created upcoming CW show Famous in 12 in partnership with Harvey Levin and the TMZ gossip journalism brand. He is also behind an NBC social experiment series, an upcoming live series for FOX and A&E cable show Godfather of Pittsburgh.
Before Renegade 83, he was VP, development at Intuitive Entertainment, and began his career as president and chief creative officer at Vision Entertainment, which sold projects to Comedy Central, CBS, MTV and VH1.
Leftfield Pictures parent Leftfield Entertainment recently sold an 80% equity stake to ITV’s global arm ITV Studios for US$360 million.
