Starz launches Power on Amazon and iTunes in the UK
Starz has launched its drama series Power on various electronic sell through platforms in the UK.
The series, which was co-created by Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, launched earlier this month on premium cable net Starz in the US.
The company’s digital division, Starz Digital Media, has now licensed the show to Amazon Instant Video, blinkbox, Google Play, iTunes, Sony Entertainment Network, and Xbox Video.
Episodes will be available to buy on each of the services two days after their Saturday transmission in the US.
Episodes can be bought individually or digital customers can pre-buy the full season at a discounted rate. The platforms control the pricing but Starz recommends a price point of £2.49 (US$4.18) per episode or £14.99 for the full series.
“Enthusiasm from our digital partners in the United Kingdom for the latest Starz original series, Power, led us to give UK fans a unique opportunity to purchase episodes the next business day after their respective worldwide premieres,” said Mara Winokur, senior VP, digital at Starz Digital Media.
Starz produces Power and its sales divisions are distributing it to digital and linear platforms. The show had its international premiere at a screening at MIPTV in April.
