News brief: Cartoon Network takes Shaun the Sheep to Asia
Cartoon Network in southeast Asia has acquired exclusive local rights to the latest season of British toon series Shaun the Sheep.
The first 20 seven-minute episodes of the season will launch immediately in territories such as Taiwan and the Philippines, with the final ten parts following in 2015 to coincide with the release of a Shaun the Sheep movie.
Cartoon Network has also acquired rights to seasons one and two until 2018.
“While Shaun has rightfully earned plaudits from around the world, this is a series that will delight and entertain audiences in Asia,” said Edward Barnieh, senior manager of acquisitions, programming and development at Turner International Asia Pacific. “It is an exciting addition to Cartoon Network’s comedy line-up and fits perfectly alongside our other slapstick series.”
