New Japanese channel buys Korean dance show
A soon-to-launch Japanese thematic channel has bought Dancing9, a dance competition series from Korean music channel Mnet.
Dance Channel run season one of the show when it launches in Japan in October.
The format comes from South Korea’s CJ E&M. It sees dance troupes from different genres such as Korean K-Pop, street dance and ballet battling for supremacy. It uses TimeSlice technology to capture dancers’ movement from various angles.
In Korea, the programme’s second season launches this evening, and will include Dartfish technology, which is used is sports broadcasting to capture fast movement in better detail.
The show’s broadcaster, Mnet, also runs the local version of The Voice.
