Spartacus launches on Amazon in Germany

Amazon has acquired swords and sandals drama Spartacus for its Prime Instant Video streaming service in Germany.

The series originally went out on premium cable net Starz in the US and was recently acquired by basic cable channel Syfy. It is produced and distributed by Starz, which cut the German deal.

The agreement covers the first two seasons of Spartacus, Blood and Sand and Vengeance. Season three, the final chapter in the series, will launch on Amazon in 2015.

Christoph Schneider, head of Amazon Instant Video Germany, said: “Spartacus is a great enhancement for our strong offering of 13,000 titles at Prime Instant Video.”
