Sun Set rises in Sky 1 primetime series
UK satcaster Sky 1 HD has commissioned The Sun Set (WT) as its first fixed-rig documentary series.
The order is part of an investment drive in the 8pm slot that Sky 1 director Adam MacDonald has initiated since joining from A+E Networks UK in 2013.
The Sun Set will see British and Irish family holidays families holidaying together in a luxurious villa complex rigged with cameras. Single cameras will also capture the action.
“Families in all their diversity are central to what we’re doing on Sky 1. The annual family holiday is always one to remember – with moments of joy, laughter, playfulness and often, sheer embarrassment, so we can’t wait for our customers to slap on the factor 30 and come join us.”
The 8x60mins series comes from UK producer Twofour and ad agency GroupM Entertainment. David Clews and Richard Marson are executive producing for Twofour, with Melanie Darlaston doing the same for GroupM. It will air in 2015.
Sky’s commissioning editor, factual, Chris Wilson ordered the series.
