Mediaset signs up for Rising Star

Mediaset’s Canale 5 channel will air an Italian version of Keshet International format Rising Star.

Keshet had already announced that an Italian version of Rising Star had been agreed, amid a flurry of deals for the interactive singing competition format at last year’s MIPCOM.

However the broadcaster was not known and has now been revealed as Canale 5, which will transmit its version of the show later this year or in early 2015.

Sony Pictures Television’s Italian prodco Toro will make the eight-episode Italian Rising Star.

The format has now been sold into 25 territories including the US where it recently bowed on ABC.
