Pastore completes new-look Nat Geo Channels top team
Tim Pastore has been named president, original programming and production at National Geographic Channel.
This completes the changes in line-up at the top of Nat Geo that began when CEO David Lyle and president Howard T. Owens exited to be replaced by Courteney Monroe and David Hill, who are now CEO and chairman, respectively.
Pastore comes across from National Geographic Studios, where he has been executive VP, production and development, for a year.
He had been poached from the US-based BBC Worldwide Productions, where he was VP, factual production and programming.
He is a direct replacement for Owens, and will run Nat Geo’s programming slate. He will work closely with EVP, programming and strategy Heather Moran and SVP, programming and development Alan Eyres.
Both will report to Pastore, while EVP and general manager Geoff Daniels will continue to report to Channels CEO Monroe.
Pastore will be based in New York, overseeing Nat Geo’s US bases. He will also work closely with Hamish Mykura, National Geographic Channels International’s EVP and head of international content.
“Tim’s taste and sensibility for the National Geographic brand coupled with his incredible success in the factual cable entertainment landscape makes him the perfect person to help us realize the full potential of this network,” said Monroe, whom Pastore will report to.
