Chile to serve up Top Chef

Chilean public network TVN is getting its own version of NBCUniversal format Top Chef.

The series will be coproduced with Spanish producer Boomerang TV, which has already adapted the show for seasons in Spain for Antena 3. Part of the team that created the Spanish show will consult on development and production strategy.

The structure and story of Top Chef Chile will be based on the Spanish series, whose first season took an average of 2.94 million viewers.

NBCUniversal International distributes the format globally. have been produced in France, Canada, Portugal, Greece, Finland, Arab territories, Romania, Brazil, Sweden, Poland, Vietnam and Indonesia to date.

For Boomerang, the move is its latest international play. It is already having Mum Detective adapted in Russia, the CIS and Holland, and drama A Normal Family reversioned for Fox in Turkey.
