Sweden first to run with FremantleMedia’s athletics format
Swedish public broadcaster SVT has ordered a local version of FremantleMedia format Master Athletes.
The athletics format, in which a group of 24 sports fanatics undergo intense fitness challenges while living together in an Athlete’s Village, will be a 10x60mins series in Sweden.
The participants are divided into 12 man/woman teams and, with expert training, compete in ten disciplines including sprinting, archery, climbing and the long jump.
FremantleMedia’s local production arm will produce the show, which will be called Athlets in Sweden and debut on August 23.
The format was created by FremantleMedia North America’s Henrik Nielsen and FremantleMedia will launch the format internationally at MIPCOM.
Magnus Karlsson Lamm, managing director, FremantleMedia Sweden said: “There is so much more to being a great athlete than physical ability and this format really explores the mental edge and tactics needed to be the best.”
