BBC and Starz join for adaptation of The Kills

UK public broadcaster the BBC and US premium cable net Starz are teaming to adapt thriller novel series The Kills for TV.

The Richad House series spans four books and the BBC and Starz are codeveloping the TV series. Deadline broke the news and Starz confirmed to TBI this morning that the project is moving forward.

Former HBO Films boss Colin Callender’s indie, Playground, is attached as the production company having optioned the books. The opening instalment of the four-book series follows an English mercenary, Stephen Lawrence Sutler, who steals US$50 million from a building project in post-war Iraq.

The BBC and Starz have worked together previously on Torchwood: Miracle Day and Da Vinci’s Demons and BBC Worldwide and Starz have a programming pact. Starz also made the first season of The White Queen with the BBC before the pubcaster pulled out of the second season.
