WarnerTV boards The Last Ship
Asian entertainment channel WarnerTV has acquired exclusive local rights to US summer drama The Last Ship.
The series, which launched in the States on TNT this year and is basic cable’s top-rated new show, will launch on the Asia-Pacific-serving WarnerTV on September 2.
The action drama, which Michael Bay executive produces, follows the crew of the USS Nathan James in a world where a global catastrophe has decimated the world’s population.
Warner Bros. International Television Distribution sells the series on the global market.
WarnerTV, which is part of Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific after switching across from HBO earlier this year, recently acquired first-run rights to another WBITVD-sold show, Gotham.
TNT is also a Turner Broadcasting System-operated channel, while WBITVD is associated via Time Warner, which is the part of both Warner Bros. and Turner.
