Slingshot hooks up with Hemlock Grove team
David Ellender’s Slingshot Globa Media has entered into a first-look deal with El Jefe, a new prodco launched by creators of Netflix horror drama Hemlock Grove.
Novelists Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman, who created Hemlock Grove, recently launched LA-based El Jefe alongside fellow author Philipp Meyer, whose book The Son is already being adapting The Son for AMC.
The trio plan to take their novels to television and have therefore partnered with former FremantleMedia Enterprises CEO Ellender to identify projects that can be adapted. McGreevy, Shipman and Meyer will executive produce all projects they bring to Slingshot.
“McGreevy, Shipman, and Meyer are talented writers who have proven themselves as entrepreneurial producers,” said David Ellender, CEO of Slingshot. “We can’t wait to begin working together to develop television shows that appeal to today’s audience.”
“In forming this company, we set out to do something ground-breaking and knew that our ambitions would best fit the television space,” McGreevy, Shipman and Meyer said in a collective statement. “We can’t imagine being in business with a better company than Slingshot Global Media for this new venture.”
This week, Netflix announced Hemlock Grove would come to an end after the forthcoming third season.
Ellender launched Slingshot earlier this year. It recently announced its first television project, Keanu Reeves drama Rain.
