Amazon launching second season of political comedy
Amazon will launch all episodes of the second season of political comedy Alpha House simultaneously next month.
Amazon has been launching its original Prime Instant Video originals in batches of episodes, but moved to the ‘Netflix model’ of releasing all episodes at once with Transparent, the Jill Soloway comedy-drama that rolled out last week.
It will use the same model for season two of Alpha House. The political comedy was one of Amazon’s first scripted originals. John Goodman will reprise his role, as one of a group of Republican senators living in the same house, in season two.
Amazon also said it will make the series available across all of its footprint at the same time. Season one hit the US before reaching the UK and Germany.
Bill Murray and US senators John McCain and Elizabeth Warren will guest star in season two. The series was devised by Doonesbury cartoonist Gary Trudeau.
“We are grateful that Garry Trudeau took an extended hiatus from his Doonesbury daily strip to focus his time on producing an incredible second season of Alpha House,” said Roy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios. “Customers are going to love the new season, particularly with election season on the horizon.”
