Chop Chop Ninja TV series heads for MIP
An animated TV adaptation of mega-successful mobile game Chop Chop Ninja is headed for MIPJunior this weekend.
Canada’s Sardine Productions will be at the kids content market with the 40×1’30” Chop Chop Ninja Challenge. Christophe Goldberger’s GoldBee is distributing the series (excluding Iberia and Latin America).
The non-verbal comedy features four ninja characters that try to complete tasks in three goes each episode.
A full 52x11mins series is also in development with Teletoon in Canada, and the shorts premiere on the channel this fall.
In association with Teletoon, Sardine coproduces the show with Gamerizon Studio, which created the Chop Chop Ninja app that has been downloaded more than 20 million times.
Mobile apps have been a steady source of inspiration for kids programmes for some time. Notably, the Angry Birds game was produced as Angry Birds Toons, which have been viewed more than three billion times since launch in March 2013.
