UKTV widens Gooze-Zijl’s role
Digital channel operator UKTV has handed Jan Gooze-Zijl an expanded remit that gives the executive responsibility for ad sales, technology and operations alongside his existing responsibilities as company CFO.
Gooze-Zijl becomes chief financial and operations officer under the new structure. The new role will see the exec handle UKTV’s relationship with the ad sales arm of UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4 and pay TV platform BSkyB as well as with technical and operations companies Red Bee and TVT.
The UKTV portfolio of channels is commanding an increasing share of UK ad revenues and the BBC Worldwide and Scripps-owned business is keen to capitalize upon the growth.
Gooze-Zijl said:“UKTV is the fastest growing commercial broadcaster and of increasing significance to British advertisers, with Dave alone offering advertisers greater reach among ABC1 and 16-34 year old men than Sky Sports.”
He added: “This year, the SOCI (share of commercial impacts) for our imaginative portfolio of channels has reached 9.1%, a gain of 17% over the same period in 2013 making our network superb value for advertisers, and offering full coverage across all demos and a fast-growing number of platforms.”
UKTV chief executive, Darren Childs said: “Jan has been instrumental in the strong growth of the business over the last four years. His new and expanded remit will naturally align elements of the business that are fundamental to delivering UKTV’s continued success.”
