Germany’s WDR bringing Bobo to Cannes

The commercial arm of German regional pubcaster WDR will launch its first-ever coproduced animated series in Cannes.

Preschool series Bobo, based on the kids book series, is being produced by WDR and German studio JEP Egenolf and France’s as Les Films de la Perrine.

WDRmg has international rights and will launch the 26x7mins kids series at the market. The broadcaster said plans are underway for a second 26x7mins series.

WDR is part of ARD and in Germany, Bobo airs on ARD’s kids net Kika. WDRmg will be looking for broadcast, SVOD and L&M deals at MIPCOM.

The regional broadcaster added that it is looking to increase kids coproduction and distribution activity.
