Canal+ reveals Gomorrah ‘sequel’ series
French pay TV giant Canal+ has commissioned ZeroZeroZero, an 8x60mins series based on Gomorrah writer Roberto Saviano’s latest work.
The English-language show will be based on Saviano’s ZeroZeroZero, which focuses on the international cocaine trade and was the follow-up to Gomorrah, the book about the Italian mafia that spawned a critically successful Sky Italia drama series (pictured).
The story arc will follow a shipment of cocaine from Mexico to Europe as it creates an epic power struggle involving drug lords and organised crime chiefs.
Gomorrah producer Cattleya is attached to produce ZeroZeroZero, and the previous series’ director, Stefano Sollima is also returning. Gomorrah writers Stefano Bises, Leonardo Fasoli and Saviano all write the new show.
Canal+ Creation Originle is the commissioning broadcaster, while Germany’s Tandem Communications is coproducer and has international distribution rights. Canal+ previously acquired Gomorrah, and will broadcast it next year.
