New German deal for Dragons Den
German channel Vox has ordered a second season of the local version of Dragon’s Den, TBI has learned.
The first season has just finished on Vox, generating strong numbers for the entertainment channel, which has now greenlit a second series.
Sony Pictures Television distributes the Dragon’s Den format and its German production unit makes the local version, Lion’s Den. In Germany the format runs to 90 minutes per episode.
The first run of the show launched with 1.8 million viewers and topped 2 million.
The final installment, which went head to head with a qualifying match for the German national football team, won 1.9 million, about a 10% share earlier this week.
The entrepreneur and investment format was originally created by NTV in Japan.
The German recommission comes in the same week that SPT’s Italian prodco, Toro TV, announced it has struck a deal with Mediaset for an Italian version of the show.
In Italy the series will go out on Italia 1 in 2015.
